ActiveParts is an online electronic component information system available for Cadence® OrCAD® users. ActiveParts contains more than 2 million parts, most of which include OrCAD Capture® symbols. In addition to searching a local database for parts, users can now choose to search online with ActiveParts. ActiveParts is fully integrated with Cadence® OrCAD® Capture CIS, allowing users to search for and select parts from within CIS. Placing a part from ActiveParts page into a Capture schematic is as easy as a click of the mouse.
ActiveParts contains parts, with detailed descriptions, from over 4000 vendors. Many of these parts have Cadence® OrCAD® Layout footprint information mapped to their symbol as well as a link to manufacturer datasheets. For any part, the OrCAD Capture symbol can be previewed before placing the part in a CIS schematic.
ActiveParts allows the user to download the symbol, save a copy of it in a local OrCAD Capture® library, and add the part information to a local OrCAD Capture® parts database.

ActiveParts is FREE for users on the most current release of OrCAD Capture CIS on an active maintenance contract. ActiveParts is a built into Capture CIS and does not require additional software installation.
In addition to searching for, downloading, and placing parts through AcitveParts, users will also be able to request that new parts be added to the ActiveParts database.

Engineers spend considerable time searching for the right parts to use in their schematics. After finding a part, they still need to create a symbol and place it into the schematic. With ActiveParts, searching is simple. Placing a symbol into the schematic is as easy as a mouse click.
Users can download any symbol from ActiveParts to their local library. In addition, they can add a local parts database. This allows users to easily develop a Capture CIS database and library set.
Users can search for parts based on a variety of attributes such as electrical description, manufacturer, technology, and part number - to name a few.
A hotlink is automatically maintained between parts downloaded from ActiveParts and the online ActiveParts database. If anything changes, you will know about it.
